Megan Smith is a ubiquitous presence at races these days, and agreeably so much more than a physiotherapist. She is Lee's PA, his performance coach, his confidant, and without a doubt, you will see her shadowing him in the paddock and out on the track. It is her role to eliminate all of the distractions for Lee over the race weekend. You will notice her scrutinizing the ergonomics of the cockpit before qualifying or checking Lee is hydrated and ready to race. The full range of duties, though, extends far beyond the visible: on any given race weekend, include getting things to and from the garage and getting Lee quickly to the car.



I asked what was the most fulfilling part to the job, she said,

"In my view, I have the best job in the world, with a blend of my passion for sports and exercise sciences, with a profound interest in the vast skill sets of the physiotherapy world. Being a sports physiotherapist has allowed me to associate with some extremely motivated individuals, including Lee, continuing to push their human limits to accomplish desired goals and the feeling that I could contribute to their success, through my training and education of being a physiotherapist, is extremely satisfying."
